The US-Taiwan Business Council works closely with our member companies in the Defense, Aerospace, and National Security sectors on issues that influence the Taiwan business environment in these sectors. Based on specific requests, the Council acts as a consultant to member companies; offering tactical and strategic advice, identifying decision-makers, and helping to set appointments and arrange meetings in Taiwan. In addition, we provide advocacy services in support of efforts by our Chairman’s Circle members to secure new business opportunities.
For Taiwan, weapons procurement is a complex and lengthy process involving a variety of private and government entities. One of the Council’s greatest strengths lies in having direct access at the highest levels of those entities, including with the Procurement Center of the Armaments Bureau under the Taiwan Ministry of National Defense, as well as with the Executive Yuan (Cabinet) and the Legislative Yuan (Parliament).
The process is just as complex on the U.S. side, where the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the American Institute in Taiwan, and the Department of Defense all play important roles. The Council also interacts closely with these entities, providing our member companies with a unique channel of communication on all Taiwan defense and security issues.
